First, name the numbering system
English cotton count (Ne) and metric count (Nm) are indirect systems: higher numbers indicate finer yarn. Denier and tex are direct systems: higher numbers indicate greater mass per unit length. A count of 30 and a denier of 150 are different specifications, not values on the same scale.
Keep ply and count together
Single and doubled yarns should be specified separately. If your requirement uses a notation such as 2/30, include the count system and confirm how the supplier interprets the construction. Do not assume that two offers with a similar shorthand describe the same yarn.
What to send with your enquiry
Share the fibre or blend, the full count or denier, whether you need single or doubled yarn, and the required quantity. If you are matching an existing production, include its specification sheet or explain the fabric you currently make. Our listed counts are a starting point for discussion; confirm the precise specification and availability with us.
